Different year, same shit! Once again, I've managed to sprain my foot/big toe trying a ponch. I hadn't tried any in 2010 since hurting myself last year trying them, so I thought it was a good idea to get the proverbial monkey off my back seeing as how I haven't learned anything new this season, and Mattsky was headed toward me on a windy 4.2 day in the Delta. What started out as a good attempt ended up as a not so good landing where I bent my big toe back. This is a common football injury also known as turf toe. For anybody who's had this injury, I found this very nice taping tutorial last year. Anyway, my pain is Team Dawg's gain, so I'm back behind the lens of my not-so-trusy Canon S2 IS camera. This camera suffers from the "black screen of death" syndrome where the aperture or shutter blades get stuck shut. Funny as it may sound, this solution got my camera working again! The following pics are from Haskins on a less than stellar day. That said, the dawgs were on 4.7, 5.0, and 5.3 when much of the Peninsula had really bad conditions. This little-known Bay Area spot is home of some of the flattest water you could ever spock or grubby on and seems to be windy when other places just don't (or won't) work. Best conditions are NW wind and an incoming tide with more than 3.5 feet of water. The best resource for wind readings is the SFO sensor tweet from Sergey. Congratulations to Aaron and Pedro who both just hit their first spocks here in the last week or so. BTW... comments are enabled again. PS Somebody tell Aaron that imitation is the best form of flattery.
